Bessie is a long time member of BPW International, serving a second three-year term on its Executive Board. She is a past president of the California Federation, a past board member of BPW/USA, is the founding president of Enterprising and Professional Women of the USA, EPW-USA, and has served in different capacities at the state, national and international levels of BPW International for several years. She is currently the BPW International Regional Cooradinator for North America and the Caribbean.
A retired Real Estate Appraiser and Business Administrator, Bessie is a certified translator/interpreter and a small business owner. She has been an elected government official for 26 years, and has served as an elected member on the boards of the Butte County Board of Education, the California County Boards of Education (CCBE), California School Boards Association (CSBA), California Latino School Boards Association (CLSBA). Her active participation includes the National Association of Latino Elected Officials (NALEO), Oroville Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and several other educational and civic organizations.
