 Our Advocacy and Voices through the United Nations since 1947 is our major initiative and the Commssion on the Status of Women was begun at the UN through the work of Esther Hymer our first United Nations representative. BPW Hollywood celebrates Black History Month:

 Black History Month and celebrating Dr. Patricia Bath's many firsts.

The first Black ophthalmologist , inventor of the instrument that is used in every cataract surgery, a physician , an advocate for women's rights. She also serves on the Board of the National Women's History Project.   So BPW Hollywood  is proud to recognize an extraordinary woman of many firsts.
